PROGRESS OFFENSIVE TO INSURGENCY

U.S. and Iraqi troops launch a surprise offensive to round up more insurgents and terrorists in the al-Anbar Province. This is another great stepping stone for the coalition forces. I think that the new Iraqi army/police have a bit more training to do before they can conduct this type of operation on their own, but nonetheless, it is a step in the right direction.

Together, US and Iraqi forces are little by little making Iraq into the country that the people have only dreamed of in the past. The ultimate goal of the coalition is not to occupy someone else's country, but to free an oppressed people. They are making huge strides. What a lot of people fail to realize is that the process of reconstruction takes a long time. An insurgency only hinders this process. It is not a process that can happen overnight as infrastructures have to be rebuilt, electricity must be restored, an economic base must be established, a democratic government (in this case) must be put into place and a police/army force has to be trained.

Good work, I hope that there is more of this in the future. These types of operations can only dissuade the insurgents to realize how futile their cause is.

IDAHO MURDERS ARE SUSPECT

The events surrounding the triple homicide and two missing children in northern Idaho are suspect.

From what has been read thus far, select family members who are now deceased have had previous scrapes with the law due to association with 'petty' crimes and drug activity. To begin with, this is plainly not an environment conducive to productive child growth. What sort of nurturing and mentorship could possibly come out of a childhood like that?

There are two children missing, with police having interviewed one man who was at the home the night prior to the murders as well as the disappearances. It is hoped by many (including myself) that the children are alive. What is odd is that the kids' real father has been seen on national television making this statement: "Please, please release my children safely, they had nothing to do with any of this."

Any of what there sir? It could be that a drug deal (or associated 'petty' crime) has or had gone awry at one point in the sketchy family past, and now it is catching up to dear old dad in spades. Maybe just a scumbag meant to prey on an innocent family? What a shame that the children have to suffer the ordeal of not only watching three family members get bound and then bludgeoned to death, but also being abducted for someone else's nefarious actions.

Keep an eye on this one and hope the kids are alright, and that the associated guilty scumbag(s) are brought to justice.

DO NOT PASS PARADISE, DO NOT COLLECT 72 VIRGINS, JUST GO AWAY

The alleged 'mastermind' of several orchestrated attacks across Iraq (and possibly elsewhere) is injured.

Giving people like this the title of 'mastermind' is a misnomer. If morons like Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold could incite the same type of terror, then they should also be considered 'masterminds' right? Wrong. Terrorists, domestic or otherwise, should not be given the amount of prestige and attention that they are as it does nothing for an effective solution to the problem and promotes that type of behavior.

While I feel that people such as bin Laden and al-Zarqawi held previous injuries of the psychological sort, it is now felt that al-Zarqawi could have been injured in 'battle'. The message of the website containing the news feels that Muslims should pray for his recovery. What I find ridiculous about the claim is that the website (which is a clearinghouse for garbage) would have you believe that Muslims in general support the insurgency. They clearly do not. In fact, you now have one of the most reactionary and voiced clerics of the Iraq war (al-Sadr) seeking a political role instead of a militant one. My guess is that many more reactionary types will follow suit. The insurgency, as it turns out, is a minority. The people want democracy, and now have access to it. They are not going to let some paltry band of thieves and murderers be their voice, and have made that clear in many instances.

al-Sadr is the young, brash individual who would have you believe (partially through our own media) that he was the spokesperson of not only the entire insurgency, but of an entire nation and religion. Clearly a mistake.

The insurgency in this case, is comprised of not only Iraqis, but other individuals who have answered the call of jihad and associated fatwa's. They would like to consider themselves radicals and freedom fighters. This is not the case. To be a freedom fighter, I think that you would have to be fighting for freedom and not opposing its progress. The people of Iraq are just now feeling the effects of freedom and democracy and crave more, so the insurgency does not hold water. They are clearly extremists and misguided fools, nothing more. The most radical thing going on in Iraq right now is not the insurgency, but democracy itself. Again, the insurgency does not hold water.

It is easier said than done of course, for me to say this. The insurgents obviously believe in their cause very deeply...but it is a futile one in the end. It is just a shame that the liberated people of Iraq must feel the effects of the select few 'spokesmen' of the minority. I am pretty sure that God does indeed have a plan for bin Laden, al-Zarqawi, al-Sadr and their like-minded cronies; I would venture to say, however, that the plan contains nothing about paradise or any virgins. Fools.

I laud the United States military and the associated intelligence communities for what they have accomplished so far. Keep up the good fight.

(Author Winston Groom) feels the review is a typical Times attack on anyone who stands up for America, including a much-praised historian who happens to believe his country was in the right in World War II.

But that could only be true if the New York Times has shown itself to let its sophisticated anti-American views influence what should be its non-partisan reporting. That just can't be.

THE PROBLEM WITH MORAL AUTHORITY...

...or, more accurately, the problem of not having any.

China, an oppressive, murdering, communist Thugocracy finds it appropriate to provide Japan a lesson on the importance of history and acknowledging one's past crimes.

This isn't to say that Japan hasn't committed horrible war crimes in its past; but is China really the one to be lecturing anybody on human rights?

I'm sure the 30 million or so Chinese murdered since Mao Zedong's glorious revolution-- the one that established the current government only a half century ago-- would of loved to comment.

SYRIA SEVERS TIES WITH U.S.

It has been reported that Syria has severed military and intelligence ties with the United States over what they claim are: unjust American allegations.

Syria believes that the United States owes them something for the role they have taken against insurgents in Iraq. What role? I don't call providing a large portion of the insurgents in the form of foreign fighters a role, I call that state supported terrorism. What better reason to sever intelligence ties...I wouldn't want the US to find out about that either.

Syria further states that credit should be given for their withdrawl from Lebanon. No one wanted you there! Why would you be given credit for a withdrawl, when for all intents and purposes, you were kicked out?! You narrowly escaped having your country handed back to you on a stretcher.

Get real, and consider yourself lucky Syria.

CLINTON SUPPORTING IOWANS ONLY!

"There is no other agenda," Sure.

Senator Hilary Clinton is seeking the Democratic nomination for the 2008 election without doubt. After the alleged 42nd President made a mockery of the office itself, why not add insult to injury by running in 2008?

I think that I can see her logic a bit more clear now though: "I have been a Senator for about 4 years now; I think I have what it takes to run the world. After all, the alleged 42nd President did it from 1993 to 2001, why can't I?"

No, seriously, we need a freshman Senator to run the world.

At any rate the latest 'strategic decision' seems like a waste to me. Why would you invite Red State constituents to your house, or is it just extended to the 4 people that would actually afford and support your nomination? I would name the so-called 'strategic decision' a bigoted analysis if anything.

I also find it ironic that she joined the impeachment inquiry staff advising the Judiciary Committee of the United States HOR in the impeachment inquiry against President Richard M. Nixon. That training, would in fact, come in handy at a later date.

TOM TAKES CRADLE ROBBING CRUISE

With my ever-growing disgust of the Hollywood elitist set and their fashionable liberal practices, I bring to your attention this piece.

Katie Holmes plays the part of the innocent young girl, while the cradle robber is played by scientologist Tom Cruise.

With this type of behavior on the rise in Hollywood, and by no means surprising, I find it repulsive. The trends of the Hollywood kids are questionable at best. I could err on the side of love, but I don't think that love is involved anywhere. Lust perhaps, is the defining characteristic of these people. For example, the shocking couple of Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore. Moore is easily old enough to be his mother, not to mention the fact she already has two marriages and an additional near miss (engagement to Emilio Estevez) under her belt.

Cruise who is twice-divorced says "Honestly, I haven't (had this kind of experience before)". Yes, and I am willing to bet that whatever 'experience' you are looking for will not be coveted for long you pedophile. That's like an 18 year old dating a 2 year old. "Show me the respect"!

WHAT PART DON'T THEY GET?

CNN and others are reporting on Bush's reaffirmation of vetoing any bill that funds/encourages embryonic stem cell research. Bush's opposition to such measures is relatively straight forward:

"I made [it] very clear to the Congress that the use of federal money, taxpayers' money, to promote science which destroys life in order to save life, I'm against that," Bush told reporters.

Destroying life to promote science -- even life saving science -- is unacceptable to Bush. Fair enough. The obvious extension is that no matter how important the science, no matter what the research may end up curing, it is not worth destroying life to obtain.

So why do his opponents focus on the "but this will save lives" argument? Bush essentially concedes the life saving potential of this kind of research, but remains opposed on moral grounds.

The answer is that his mainstream opponents, especially Republicans supporting the bill, are unwilling to make the moral argument against Bush. Two questions must be answered by supporters of embryonic research...

1) Are those cells being harvested from living humans?
2) If so, is it worth destroying life for the sake of research?

Of course there are those who would argue, resoundingly, yes to both questions-- but they are not, as most would define it, within the political mainstream.

Any kind of solution-- and reasonable, moral policy-- concerning stem cell research will require a very unabashed debate between the parties. The supporters of the research, however, seem to be unwilling to take up their end of the debate.

As everyone knows, Man in the Arena likes to protect his identity with complicated, and often times completely illegal, security measures. What exactly is Arena hiding? Is he manufacturing skin suits in his spare time? Producing Korean snuff films? Reading Oliver Willis? No. Although all are likely, and never conclusively disproved, theories-- the real answer is now exposed.

After careful investigation, I am able to present video footage of Arena operating alongside chosen members of his World Domination Shock Troops.

OPENING SALVO

Minus and I were talking the other day about how big a cocklord A Man In The Arena is. We agreed on two important points. 1) Man in the Arena is, indeed, a gigantic cocklord and 2) that we should start our own blog so to not be relegated to the barren waste-lands of Arena's comments section. Our opinions, afterall, are far to valuable to be wasted in that cold, hollow forum.

Well, after rearranging my schedule, I found that I could easily post to this blog in between my attempts to score pharmecutical ether at CVS and beating up local teenagers. I'm sure Minus will be able to get a few hours off from killing vampires as well.

In any event, I'm sure you'll find our topics timely, our insight biting, and our slander completely uncalled for.
