I am not sure if you watch The History Channel's "Top Shot" program or not, but it is pretty good. This show pits marksmen against one another and themselves to narrow down a competent field. In the end, the winner gets $100,000 USD and whatever prizes that they have collected along the way.

There is one "competitor" on the show that is an absolute bitch. His name is Jake Zweig and claims to be a former Navy Seal. Having spent any decent time around the community will instantly get the proverbial hackles up about this claim. This Zweig character is a loud-mouthed crybaby that is a quitter. As a matter of fact, on the latest episode of Top Shot, he did quit. While everyone is glad, there is more to the story.

As it turns out, Jake Zweig also quit the Navy Seal program citing racism or some lame ass excuse. Funny, he claimed the same thing while attending the Naval Academy. The end result is that I am glad that he left the show. Jake Zweig is not that great of a shooter to begin with...he spends a lot of time talking and not enough listening.

Jake quit the show because he is a crybaby and not a good shooter. Jake quit the Navy Seals because he is a crybaby and couldn't hack it. That is not to say that he doesn't get props for completing BUDS, but despite that...he is still a whiny bitch. Piss right off you crybaby, whining sore loser. You Jake, are a piece of shit.

The article is titled "New state law requires LGBT history in textbooks."

In a word, this is garbage. I would find it hard to believe that the LGBT community is accepting of this drivel. As much as the cry of "no special rights, just equal ones," is said this law would not hold water. In no surprise, Governor Jerry Brown signed a bill to add this to the social sciences curriculum.

Brown is quoted as saying that "History should be honest." Well, yes but should it also apply sexual orientation as a qualifier of achievement? No. To wit: "Alan Turing is the father of computer science and greatly contributed to the creation of the modern computer." That's honest and says nothing about Turing's homosexuality...and why the hell should it?

Brown is looking for voters. That's it. Historical? I can assure you there is nothing historical about California blowing things out of proportion.

Most of the readers of this blog will most likely not be keeping up with events in Baltimore. Nor should they; Baltimore is a cesspool of fail. One can easily guess that the "Charm City" is a hoax and is staffed by complete muppets. While doing some reading, I came across an interesting legal case that is unfolding.

The details in the case are vague in some instances, but what is known (according to the articles) is the following:

The defendants are two Jewish brothers, Avi and Eliyahu Werdesheim. The plaintiff is a 15-year-old black kid. According to one article, the 15 year old kid was beaten for simply walking through the wrong neighborhood. From what I have read, Eli Werdesheim was formerly part of the Israeli Special Forces and now owns his own security company; he is 23 years old. In addition, the two brothers are part of a neighborhood watch group called Shomrim, or "the guards." Shomrim is a group that essentially watches over portions of northwest Baltimore's Jewish communities.

Naturally there are elements of the African-American, or black communities that are insistent that this was racism and a "hate crime." This is quite laughable considering that Shomrim was born out of necessity. Northwest Baltimore has many depressed areas that shelter a specific type of citizen. What much of the articles on the subject are not putting forth is that this poor little 15-year-old black boy has a rap sheet as long as a giraffe's neck. Just the week prior to getting put in his place, he had stolen a car.

It will come out in the coming weeks that this wee thug intended to do harm to the Werdesheim brothers by hitting them with a 2x4 that had nails through it. What's odd, however, is that the board cannot, for some reason, be used in the trial (scheduled for May sometime). Upon detecting the danger, Eli and Avi defended themselves which is still legal in some parts of this country.

Good on the Werdesheim brothers and shame on the truly whiny thug community because a punk got put in his place. There have already been threats if the Werdesheim brothers are acquitted (which, in my opinion, they should be) then there will be riots, etc. What a farce. These ignorant folks have zero respect for the reason that Shomrim was created in the first place, nor the process of law. They seem to think that the Black Panthers are acceptable while a Jewish group of a protective vein is not. Ignorance and hypocrisy.

There will be some interesting details to come before the trial...whatever the case may be, hopefully justice will be served. I have my doubts...

DOMA

This is a little late, but a few days ago the Obama administration announced it would no longer defend the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA). Its position is that the Act is unconstitutional, and as such will no longer use the DoJ to enforce it.

While I'm no fan of DOMA for a couple reasons, this announcement strikes me as pretty unsavory for two main reasons:

1) It smacks of serious Executive Branch overreach. Our constitution created a system where the Legislative passes laws, and the Executive enforces them. Its up to the Judicial to settle debates on the constitutionality of those laws. With the administration in effect nullifying a duly passed law, it subverts this system. Screwing with the careful balance of power crafted by the constitution is always a bad idea.

2) The goddam hypocrisy. The people cheering Obama for this decision, are the exact same people who advocate strict gun control. How can any reasonable person say that the constitution protects Gay Marriage (!) and at the same time say that it contains no individual right to bear arms? It takes a pretty strained interpretation of the document to say that it guarantees the right for two guys to get married. To be able to wring that out of it, but still have the audacity to ignore something a prominent and simple as the second amendment-- well, that takes some pretty serious chutzpah.

I like Gingrich's approach, that the Legislature should man up, and use its power of the purse to make the Executive branch enforce its laws. A congressional act revoking all funding from the DoJ until it starts to do its goddam job should do the trick.

Anyone want to lay a bet on that happening? I'll give some pretty long odds.....

Harry Reid's DREAM Is America's Nightmare

Harry Reid (Crooked Idiot - Nevada) has seemingly pushed through four versions of the controversial DREAM Act without having a hearing on a single one. This means that Harry Reid does not at all respect the political process, or the American people. Think about it; Reid, Harry seems to think that his version of politics is the way it needs to be. How funny...take a look at the last election, the crooked style of politics is on its way out (and perhaps a new style of crooked politics is on the way in...one thing at a time).

Reid's henchman, Dick Durbin (Not Just a Clever Name - Illinois) is the one responsible for authoring the dipshit documents. All four slightly different versions that have the same name. I guess these people seem to think that attrition is the way to go and pull the wool over the American's eyes? What a bunch of shit.

I just saw a commercial with a bunch of saps "pleading" with Obama on a video. Take a look if you want to. It is a piece of shit (like that's a surprise). Within the video is a bunch of clueless dickwits (probably paid off to give support) that are whining about the tax situation. This means that the Left does not want to have the Bush tax cuts extended...this further means that the Left are fiscally retarded.

Remember when Bush was elected and that video came out (or website) with a bunch of clueless idiots holding up signs that read "I am sorry," or some such bullshit? Well, this video is much like that except we get to put faces to the Obama demographic (you know the type: stupid, ignorant and generally clueless to how life actually works). Anyhow, watch the video...there is actually one bitch that states: "I am in the highest tax bracket, we don't need the money; the country does!"

Funny part of it is that stupid bitch could simply give her money away...instead, she sees fit to bitch about it on MoveOn.org...why? Because she was paid to do so. It is a crap lousy video with a crap lousy message. MoveOn.org is still full of fucking idiots.

I have been a pretty big fan of the BBC show called "Top Gear" for quite some time. Jeremy Clarkson has a wit that is not only British, but libertarian in perspective. James May also has this brand of wit as does Richard Hammond. In a nutshell, this show is brilliant; there are fast cars, arcane challenges and hosts which simply make the show what it is. Many people seem to be miffed at the fact that the BBC version does not review American cars on that show too often.

Why not? Well, for one, Americans are not known so much for their supercars these days. If you consider a Z06 or a Viper a supercar, you are a retard. The only thing that does come close is the Ford GT. This was paid a certain homage to on the BBC show that did it grace. While for the most part, "down the Brits/up the Yanks" still applies, "Top Gear" is a British show.

For some reason, the American TV industry thought that they could take a stab at Top Gear. Well, I watched about 30 minutes of the hour-long debut and turned it to another channel. The show is shit. First rattle out of the box the retards hosting the show called a Viper a supercar and tried to desperately mimic the BBC versions' arcane challenges. They were chased around Griffin, Georgia of all places by a Cobra attack helicopter. It was not only a stupid attempt, but a failed one. Shame on the producers for picking the wrong hosts for the American version.

For starters, I felt as if I was watching a documentary of "simples" on a road-trip with each new scene. There was absolutely no wit to the program, but there was a large amount of whining from the proverbial "fat kid." I don't even know what their names are and I do not care because I will not watch that dumb show ever again.

Shame on the producers at the History Channel for attempting this huge piece of bullshit programming. This will breed morbidly obese dickheads all across the land thinking that the Dodge Viper can keep up with a Ferrari, now. Nice job assholes. I am pretty sure that this show will fail miserably due to shitty content and it should. I think that the BBC has a lock on Top Gear; leave it well alone.

3) A nation's people may suffer economically, physically and mentally while their "dear leader" receives this hunk of shit
4) Astronomical unemployment rates, economic failure, failed communities, very little experience in government, the inability to make decisions of any caliber (Afghanistan, anyone?), promoting stratification of society, creating mockeries of the Constitution and being an all around failure are apparently all that it takes to be a "winner" in the eyes of the Nobel Committee.

As an update of sorts and according to several sources: Obama is to travel to Oslo, Norway to actually accept this "prize." He should be ashamed of himself for several reasons:

1) He is NOT deserving of the award
2) Junket's are NOT in the budget
3) He knows that he does NOT deserve it
4) It further shows what a mockery that he is making of the presidency
5) He is an extremely weak and shameful person. This cat (with the actual acceptance of shit he does NOT deserve) has shown the world that the US will take credit for things that they did not do. Bullshit...this is an atrocity.

As I am flipping through the old Obama-box I happened across CNN. There was less-cheery-than-usual Wolf Blitzer reporting that Obama, your Dear Leader, is saying: "No Fear, Americans! Spend, spend, spend!!" Let us look at this on two fronts. First, do not even suggest to me what to do with MY money. You really think that I want to take financial advice from an administration and associated cabinet that can not manage to pay its own taxes? There is enough government intervention in daily life (with more on the way no doubt) without a stupid suggestion like that. Second, have you checked the majority of your demographic; they do not have an abundant supply of disposable income, chief.

It was effing hilarious to watch Tim Geithner suggest that the Obama administration is going to go after those that do not pay their taxes. Chuckle, chuckle. That dummy ended up paying $43,000 USD after he was nominated. Halt dem Mund Bitte. Cripes, that is but one example. The guy who writes tax laws, Charlie Rangel owed $75,000 in back taxes on rental properties and a house in the Dominican Republic. Wow, the list actually does go on and on and on and on and on and on.

Next, Obama is hell bent on damaging relations with Britain. Dear Leader actually gave back a symbol of solidarity between the two countries (a bust of Sir Churchill). How rude and ignorant; nevermind the amount of troops they have in A-Stan...and being a steadfast ally through all kinds of shit; thanks a lot.

As I sit here watching a bit of the television, I am blindsided with an NCIS marathon on the USA Network. That's right, marathon. In case I haven't said it before, this NCIS show may be a grand candidate for the dumbest show on television. "But Minus, just change the channel." I would except I don't feel like watching infomercials (it is quite early in the morning).

Apparently NCIS has arrest authority over anyone in the known universe (and the dimwitted writers will probably script an alien arrest before too long); even those outside of their jurisdiction. No kidding, they arrested a civilian buying a slurpee in one episode.

Another bone of contention with this crap-lousy show is that NCIS seems to employ a disturbing number of foreign nationals. Seriously and nevermind national security or OPSEC issues.

How about the forensic "scientist" Abby who dwells in the depths of the NCIS building? Wow, she is essentially a Hot Topic (er, Hot Gothic) doofus that is supposed to be savvy with the science. I know a lot of scientists; Abby isn't a scientist, I don't care what your name is. She makes the already stupid show seem like an effing sideshow.

How about the dumbass pseudo-laureate that works for the Navy slicing bodies open and taking happy snaps at crime scenes? Please. Mr. Magoo-ass sucker.

What about the building itself? It would appear on TV as some expansive mansion type of setup with unlimited resources. Ha! I am willing to bet that the real NCIS building is a couple of Quonset huts taped together with tradition and crime solving skills. We all know that the VP debate is tomorrow night. This battle will pit Sarah Palin vs. Joe Biden and should prove interesting for several reasons. First and foremost, there is the issue of the "moderator". Gwen is coming out with a pro-Obama book in the near future, so we know who she is voting for...should that be the case? Personally, I would want a non-biased moderator calling the shots but that remains to be seen. This is further reason that the conservative set shouldn't play fair with the liberal trickery any longer.

Next, we can pay particular attention to foreign policy. Let's face it; Palin doesn't have that much experience in this area. Biden has a longer time with foreign policy, however, that doesn't mean that he is more of an expert at it. It will be an interesting match-up as Biden has typically aligned himself with center/right opinions on foreign policy.

Anyhow, do watch and see what happens. I know I will be as I get the distinct feeling that the gaffemaster really is a snake oil salesman.

The Savings and Loan fiasco, and what we can learn from it. Much credit to Cato Institute's Savings and Loan Lessons Learned report.

First...what happened?

S&Ls were institutions that were required, by law, to take in savings accounts, then re-invest the money in 30 year fixed rate mortgages, at an interest rate cap, within a 50 mile radius of their institution. The situation was that the SL was solvent as long as savings accounts remained viable investments, and the bank was allowed to make money by recouping the mortgage investment as people bought new homes—hence new mortgages--,and re-financing old mortgages-hence paying off the original debt.

The problem began when inflation began to rise, and the returns on savings accounts no longer were viable investments. So, people pulled their money from savings accounts, and put them elsewhere. Additionally, the housing market slowed. First time buyers held off on purchasing new homes, and people were afraid to re-finance. As the industry was severely hand-tied with the aforementioned regulations, it was not in a position to react and re-capitalize. Quickly SLs owed more money than they owned.

The government recognized this problem, and decided to act. They increased the insurance on deposits to 100,000 from 40,000, and allowed the SLs a degree of freedom in their investments—specifically allowing ARM loans, issue credit cards, etc—in an attempt to let the SLs become solvent again.

The first step was a serious mistake, the second too little too late.

In a normal, non-regulated, industry when a company is no longer solvent, its creditors recognize this and stop extending credit to that company. The company then is forced to declare bankruptcy, the creditors take over the company, sell what isn’t profitable and keep what it is. Eventually, and painfully, the company is rebuilt and the market is stronger.

However, the increase in the FDIC amount meant that the company could continue to rely on additional credit—propping up an already dead company—and eventually making the inevitable collapse that much more expensive.

Also, as the Fed continued to loan money to these companies, coupled with the industry’s new freedom to invest in additional areas, put the presidents in a position to have nearly unlimited access to taxpayer money, while risking very little, if any, of their own.

At first, most accept that the owners of SLs set out with the best of intentions. They took the money from the government and, in a desperate hope to recapitalize their banks, made increasingly high payoff, and risky, investments. They didn’t have the normal investor’s risk aversion, thanks to the government’s backing, and little knowledge of the new markets in which they were investing. Simplified, the SL owners could make money and save their banks if the investments paid off or, if the investments didn’t, they knew the government would back them. This turned out to be catastrophic for the US taxpayer.

Of course the new, high yield investments of the SL owners didn’t pay off, so in turn they borrowed more money from the government to re-invest in other high risk investments—increasing their debt and severely limiting their credit quality.

Weak institution needed continued infusions of funds to pay operating expenses and to support increased investments. Meanwhile, federally insured depositors were largely unconcerned about the health of the institutions in which they placed their money.

The market would normally destroy firms in such a situation because, again, people won’t invest in failed companies. But, because of government backing, this constraint didn’t apply to the SLs. As such, these SLs were nicknamed zombies, or dead men walking.

Perversely, the few healthy and solvent SLs were being punished by the government. Because the government was handing out these large sums of money to SLs, and insuring an increased amount of deposits, the government increased insurance premiums. The poorly managed SLs could afford this, because of their high-risk, on paper profitable, investments. The conservatively managed ones already operating on a razor thin profit margin could not.

Additionally, the “zombie” SLs would be able to steal business from the healthy SLs, as they didn’t have anything to lose—further weakening their healthier brethren.

The investor didn’t care, because their 100,000 was secured, whether they put it in a healthy bank or a zombie. And as the zombie frequently promised higher returns, what was left of the market was quickly killed.

Eventually, when the system collapsed, it cost taxpayers 200 billion dollars to cover the costs of deposits—not counting the billions of bad money already sucked up by the SLs.

If the market was allowed to act, without government interference, the crisis would have been avoided. SLs wouldn’t have faced the restrictions which forced them into poor capitalization from the get-go, and poorly managed SLs would have become bankrupt—thereby not destroying other healthy SLs in the industry. Investors would have been forced to research banks prior to investing, or depositing, money in them, thereby capitalizing solvent, profitable SLs and punishing bad ones. Lastly, the corruption among SL leaders could not have happened at the level it occurred if these individuals did not have nearly limitless access to taxpayer money.

The risk of failure forces companies to behave responsibly, and punishes those that don’t. Government interference prevents this from happening.

Well intentioned government action, i.e. the FDIC, severely distorted the normal market mechanisms—as investors in the bank didn’t have to concern themselves with risk.

It is now a myth that deregulation of the SL industry is what caused the crisis. This is not true. The over regulation of the industry prior to the 1980’s deregulation is what put the SLs in such a poor position. Then, the government “deregulated” the industry by allowing it to make additional investments, but still didn’t allow the market to function normally thanks to its provision of unlimited funds and the FDIC. Deregulation works only when the government takes itself out of the picture—otherwise artificial prices and risks are created which, ultimately, lead to disaster.

The quick pull of the band-aid in the early 80s—i.e. allowing some banks to fail and some investors to lose their money—would of, in the long run prevented the prolonged, and ultimately multi-billion dollar collapse that occurred.

Sound familiar? As the government considers propping up another failed banking industry with 700 billion dollars, it’s unfortunate to know that our congressmen and executives are totally incapable of learning from even a painful and recent experience.

How many more trillions of dollars must we waste until we allow the market to function? Or will this gross mismanagement continue until the dollar is utterly worthless and we find ourselves in a problem too big to throw money at?

My prediction—people will lose faith in the dollar, gold will soar above 1000 dollars an ounce, and we will slide into a painful, prolonged, and devastating recession.

You see, FDR was the first President of the United States to be on TV. This was in 1939 when he opened the World's Fair in New York.

ROLEMODELS IN RELIGION

You would think that there would be connotations of peace and harmony associated when speaking about the Christian faith. In particular, you would expect to find tranquility in one of the most holy sites in the known universe: Bethlehem. According to this article, however, a brawl broke out between Armenian priests and Greek Orthodox priests in the church where Jesus is said to have been born (the church is built over the site). That's right, a freakin' punch up over the cleaning of the church following Christmas celebrations. I have got to get to the bottom of this. As such, I have forwarded the following letter to archdiocese of both the Greek Orthodox and Armenian Churches:

Your Holiness,

I am writing with somewhat of a concern in reference to recent events that occurred in Bethlehem. I was reading around the Internet this afternoon and read that in Bethlehem of all places and in specific, the birthplace of Jesus Christ, a punch up began. At first I thought that the punch up might have broken out by rowdy or somehow unruly churchgoers. I was aghast at the fact that the punch up was between priests from Armenia and Greek Orthodox priests.

I would have thought that cleaning the Church of the Nativity would be something that is a time honored tradition despite religious differences. Yet, it seems in the article that I read (just a blurb really from the AP) that there was a territorial encroachment that sparked the punch up. It would seem that the Armenian priests are claiming that Greek Orthodox ladders were too close to their territory or some such bickering.

I am hoping that as a spiritual leader you may be able to shed some light on this subject. Why is there so much trouble between these two groups of priests? Is there information that is factual and maybe even historical that you can share to allow me a better understanding of this? Honestly, who would have thought in at least 2000 years that a fistfight would break out at the alleged birthplace of Jesus Christ? Isn't this a bit childish and unorthodox per se?

What actions might (or should) be taken to curb such behavior? While I explore my own faith it is a sort of roadblock to find out this sort of behavior exists between grown men of the cloth. I would have assumed that due to the location and tradition of this holy site that matters such as "ladder encroachment" would be settled outside of the church with a mean game of chess, or a bocce ball tournament. Instead, I get to read about a holy punch up. Something isn't right. Please advise.

I am thankful enough to have a wonderful family and friends that understand this concept. All too often, I see not holiday spirit in the sense of which it was meant, but rather homage to monuments of consumerism. What do you mean little Timmy is upset that he didn't get a PS3? Too bad, little Timmy might just be a spoiled brat.

Am I thankful that I got an Undead Warlock action figure or a Dodge Challenger R/C car? Or how about being thankful for some badass sweaters to keep me warm or flying a small helicopter around my living room? Yes, of course, but not as thankful as I am for the opportunity to spend the holidays with the ones that I love. That, actually, is what the holiday is all about. Presents aside, take the time to step back and appreciate what really matters in life; life itself and those you can share it with.

Keep in mind that once the holiday season is over for this year, I am sure that blogs reverting to the old "no faith in my fellow man" stance will ensue. What of it?

With all the hubub about the upcoming elections and who is gonna be in the White House, I saw an interesting article. Read it here. Essentially, Hillary Clinton is putting experience on point in her road march to the White House. Along with the total misuse of military terminology and Clinton in one sentence, you might also be asking yourself: what experience? Well, you would be right. She doesn't have enough to speak for an entire nation, let alone the free world. Most of her time as First Lady was spent being pissed at Bill for getting a mic check in the Oval Office.

Remember, as the article says, she didn't even have a clearance while First Lady. That means that she wasn't privy to all of the "goings on" that are required to run a country. Certainly her record as a junior Senator isn't all that extensive. Just look at it. It isn't. Maybe another decade and she will be ready...but I am willing to bet that America still will not be ready to totally self destruct into socialism ala Clinton.

America needs to rebound pretty badly right now. Socialism is most definitely not the answer to bring her back to her former glory, and neither is rampant government spending, constant bickering or governmental cockblockery in general. Time will tell and there is still hope.

In a bit of stupid news this week the "star" of the show "Heroes" Hayden Panettierre went to Japan to protest the killing of some dolphins. The "protest" was useless as the dolphins got the axe anyhow. She was shoved, rightfully so, with a stick along with her other "surfing" ilk to keep them away from the boat hunting the dolphins. In Japan, dolphin is a part of their heritage and culture and in fact, 14,000 are killed EVERY YEAR in that country for food.
