This is the combination of stupidity and tragedy. Britain's senior policeman has apologized to the family of Jean Charles de Menezes, who was shot five times in the head. He was mistaken for a suicide bomber as he evaded police and jumped over a turnstile at Stockwell Station, witnesses said. It is a tragedy that the family had to lose a son to stupidity. If you choose not to read the article, at least pay a bit of attention to this extract:
"He had emerged from a nearby house that was under surveillance because of a suspected link to Thursday's attempted bomb attacks. His clothing and behaviour added to the officers' suspicions."Britain, already on edge after several suicide bombings, took this man as another attempted bomber because he was running, evading police, jumping barriers and wearing a dress similar to that of the terrorists. That should be taken into consideration before being too harsh on the officers at the Tube station; in this case, they are scrutinized for their vigilance.
